The Mormon church-- cozily and officially referred to as The Church Of Christ Christ of Latter-day Saints-- mocks the deity by featuring apostle Boyd Packer ranting against homosexuality only days after Clementi's suicide. Packer may as with well have fished the teen from the water and then pushed him off that bridge afresh. (Packer is also against mixed-race matrimony,True Religion outlet online, but that's a heading for variant day.)

What to Do when Teenagers Say They are Gay
Myriad fundamentalist beliefs and creeds sermonize against homosexuality, hiring the foulest and most incredible menaces of perdition and perpetual damnation, entirely ignoring the fact that some of the children in their benches might be chafing below the verbal abuse and maybe contemplating suicide themselves.
The Roman Catholic Church considers homosexuality an intrinsic disorder-- love the sinner, they call, yet they do EVERYTHING in their power to make sure that gay teens grow up disenfranchised, incapable to enjoy the quite elementary rights and protections that "ordered" citizens cherish.
Where does this stem from, people query? In today's day and age-- at last, this is 2010, not 1810-- why should anyone young gay person feel driven to suicide with all the support facilities supposedly fixed firmly in place? Gay community hearts, hotlines, message boards, and websites exist for the confirm of young gay people, and yet we still detect them jumping from bridges.
ut it happens, ladies and gentlemen. Either driven at religion-fueled intolerance or blind political fidelity to the sort of politician who preys on the alarm of the illiterate, there are parents who would rather to see their kid driven from family and into the streets. And we should all understand, at now, what aw
Teen suicides are in the news again, and in a big way-- gay teen suicide, characterized recently and maximum vividly by juvenile Tyler Clementi, seems especially heartbreaking because it should be preventable. Imagine being so despondent at being caught kissing another man on movie that you feel driven to jump from the George Washington Bridge? What bottomless despair!
We for a society-- the reasonable, taught,True Religion Jeans Boys, smart among us, that is-- have the REAL power. We tin be sure that homophobic politicians are NOT elected to office, or that those entrenched are darted out. We can insist, through our referenda, that these people are not deserving of a profession in public service when that profession decides to elect and select who is due of their largesse. And we don't have to attend and patronize mosques that rail opposition members of the people family who fair so happened to be nativity certainly individually from their own unforgiving and narrow-minded requirements.
We are all culpable. As a society made up of individuals, it should be up to each and each 1 of us to assure that society doesn't crumble from below us simply for we insist on hacking away by the supporting limbs built with each and every one of us.
Don't Ask, Don't Tell... state constitutional amendments vetoing gay human their rights apt life, liberty, and the pursuit of pleasure... politicians sprinting above anti-gay platforms, some of them soliciting for understanding even behind being caught in tawdry restroom same-sex forays... This is evidence of a administration that namely sworn to protect its citizens?
But what happens? Young gay people are given damaging and insidious messages from the maximum authorities in the land-- the churches, the government,True Religion Skirt Women, and their own families.
And what approximately parents? How many times have we listened about a child pedaled from the house after coming out to his family... or of having even been suspected of being gay? What sort of parent would do this to their own baby?
