Natural fibers are made from materials which come from the earth, rather than being synthetically produced. They are cotton, wool, hemp, flax, bamboo, and legna, just to name a few. As they can all be cultivated, they are sustainable materials, as long as they are produced responsibly. Unfortunately,Nike Air Max 95, this is not always the case. Cotton in particular, has been such a popular natural fiber for so long, that it is systematically grown with harsh chemicals and non-sustainable growing methods.
What is hemp fiber like as a natural fabric? Its most noticeable trait is strength and durability. It is not only ideal for making sustainable linens, but also for shoes, handbags, and rugs. It is not quite as soft and luxurious as bamboo or legna, but it is lightweight and very comfortable. Hemp fibers can also be easily blended with other materials, such as organic cotton. Synthetic fibers, such as polyester and nylon, are petroleum-based, and manufactured with a host of chemicals. They do not come from sustainable materials, and they are a risk for respiratory well-being, as they emit toxins into the air. Conventional cotton materials are not eco-friendly either, as the growth and production of this crop pollutes the air, land, and water, and introduces chemicals into the home. Organic cotton and wool are wonderful green options, but there are other environmentally-friendly, alternative fiber choices as well. Sustainable linens made from eco-friendly materials, such as bamboo or legna, have increased options for people looking for green bedding, bath linens, and even clothing. Why choose natural fibers? Because they are good for the environment, and good for developing a green home. Natural hemp fibers are versatile, sustainable, and easy to work with. It grows well without the use of chemicals,Nike Air Rejuven 8, and primes the soil for future crops. This plant does not require massive amounts of water to thrive, unlike the cotton crop. Bamboo fibers are very eco-friendly. This giant grass grows well,Air Max 97, without any need for pesticides or other agricultural chemicals. Manufacturing the plant into the actual fiber does raise some environmental concern. It can be treated with harsh chemicals, or processed with the Lyocell method. With this method, the bamboo pulp is dissolved with less harmful chemicals, which are then re-processed into the material again and again, cutting down on chemical use. Bamboo fiber products made from the Lyocell process are generally approved by an independent, international organization, such as the Soil Association, KRAV, or Demeter-International.
