Was Signing Mike Bibby Jersey a Mistake?
Recently the Miami Heat signed the bought out Mike Bibby Jersey. The point guard replaced Carlos Arroyo who was let go, to make room for Mike Bibby Jersey specifically. For the Heat, the move seemed like a great idea, seeing as how Mike Bibby Jersey was starting for the Atlanta Hawks up until a trade sent him to Washington where he was bought out of his contract.
Since coming down to Miami, Mike Bibby Jersey has been looking like someone that has been with the team for less than a week. The veteran point guard joined the team on Thursday against the Magic, and watched his new team blow a big lead, to end up losing 99-96.
Mike Bibby Jersey’s stats also haven’t been up to par with what he usually does. In the game with the Magic, Mike Bibby Jersey shot 1-4 from beyond the arc, only totaling three points, three rebounds, and one assist in his first game with the new team. In his second game against the Spurs, Mike Bibby Jersey again shot a poor 2-6, 0-3 from beyond the arc, with two rebounds and five assists. Then in his most recent game against the Bulls, he put up probably his least productive game, totaling only two rebounds, and three turnovers with no points on 0-1 shooting.
Meanwhile, Carlos Arroyo who was let go, is set to sign with the Boston Celtics. Arroyo who started the season as the starter for the team, was actually quite productive despite the two stars of the team (LeBron and Wade) usually bringing up the ball. Arroyo started 42 games, playing in 49 with the Heat. He averaged six points, two assists, and one rebound in 20 minutes of playing time, with a 45% FG percentage, as well as 43% from beyond the arc.
Many basketball fans are saying that the team signed a guard who is already the clear cut image of Eddie House, who is already on the Heat. So the Heat let go a veteran player, and teammate that had been productive with the playing time he has received. Could Boston have gotten the better of this Heat signing, by then signing the let go player? With the regular season still not over, only time will tell.
UPDATE: The Celtics have officially signed Arroyo to a contract. Terms of the deal were disclosed per team policy. |
