Much like QI, the show relies on the quick wit of the contestants to move it along. Each member attempts to be as convincing as possible while the opposing team tries to catch them out. The best panellists have perfected the art of the double bluff,Air Max 1 Shoes, apparently struggling for details to make their story believable so the other team will assume they must be lying, when of course they are not.
David Mitchell, eBay Bargain Hunter?
There are guests such as Manford who have appeared in previous series, but this is no showcase for the BBC Old Boys’ Network whose members seem to pop up on every quiz show going. Would I Lie To You? can also entice the likes of Richard E Grant,Nike Air Max 90 Current, Keeley Hawes and Professor Brian Cox, none of whom feature prominently on the stand-up circuit.
Despite a liberal sprinkling of comedians on the panel (as well as Brydon,Air Max Wright, Mirchell and Mack, the second show of the series included Jack Dee and Peter Serafinowicz),Nike Air Max 95 Shoes, there is no jockeying for position or one-upmanship, as is so often the case on Mock the Week. Nobody is on the show to try and shoehorn in the cleverest bits of their latest routine – it’s a competition, pure and simple.
Essentially a remake of the more genteel Call My Bluff, the programme features two teams, captained by David Mitchell and Lee Mack. Team members take it in turn to reveal little known “facts” about themselves, and the opposition must decide if the person is telling the truth, or making the whole thing up.
The show’s writers never fail to keep the stories just this side of believable. Ruth Jones’ heart warming tale of a council worker who rescued her turtle from certain death at a recycling plant (cue Lee Mack on caring local councils - “If you’re worried your tortoise is in the rubbish, press 2”) was indeed true, and the man who found him was the week’s mystery guest.
Rob Brydon Is The Perfect Host
Is it possible that Rob Brydon stole Catherine Zeta Jones’ dinner money way back at primary school? Or that Jason Manford was attacked by a group of schoolchildren while dressed as a sausage? Would I Lie To You? returns for a fourth series, and the comedy panel show is as sharp as ever.
