In regular weaving, the weft thread passes over and under the warp thread regularly. In brocade, special threads are transfixed in between, by skipping the passage of the regular weft over a certain number of warp threads and by regularising the skipping by means of prearranged heddles for each type of patterning. <br />Balucar <br />The village of Paithan is famous for this special kind of sari with gold borders and pallav, which has silk-brocaded motifs.
