The baby blessing will be performed by a member of the Melchizedek Priesthood; when possible, the blessing will be performed by the baby’s father or another family member. The person performing the baby naming ceremony will hold the child while other Melchizedek priesthood members gather around and place their hands under the baby as well. A baby blessing is a common ceremony for LDS members, however people who are not familiar with the Mormon church may have many questions of the purpose, how it is done and who has the authority to perform the ceremony.
