NFL Making Sense Casey Kotchman |
|
Lincecum was selected by the Chicago Cubs in the 48 round of the 2003 MLB Draft; however he did not sign up for the team. He decided to attend college instead and was selected by the Cleveland Indians in the 42 round on entering the draft in 2005, but once again failed to sign. In 2004, he was drafted tenth overall by the San Francisco Giants becoming the first player from the University of Washington to be taken in the first round. He signed for a 2.025 million dollars signing award on June 30, which at the time was the highest amount the organization had ever paid to any amateur player until they gave 2.1 million dollars to Angel Villalona a little over a month later.
gaze, see, glance, watch, survey,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], study, seek, search for, peek, peep, glimpse, stare, contemplate, examines like the Boston Red Sox have elected to retain Casey Kotchman’s services for the 2010 season.
Only bummer, for Sox fans, is that they non-tendered OF utility piece Brian Anderson. This is not a bummer considering the price which Mr. Anderson’s modest services would have come at, but rather, a TOTAL bummer considering how it seems to completely inauthorizedate the entire any remaining excuse for having traded label, tag, price, ticket, impress, effect,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], trace, imprint, stamp, brand, sign, note,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], heed, notice,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], designate Kottell to the White Sox. And considering the way this Boston club is presently constructed i.e. without Matt Holliday,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Jason Bay, or Ted Williams in left field, Kottell could have found himself in the starting lineup in left field or first base a hell of lot this year.
For those following at home, The Venuist was shocked at the Boston Herald report from last week which speculated that the Sox would cut ties with a slick fielding 1st baseman with some potential pop in his bat since, based on the Lowell trade, that’s EXACTLY WHAT THEY WOULD BE LOOKING FOR ON THE OPEN MARKET. Lincecum is reminded, again, why Lincecum should only read the Boston Herald for entertainment, and not for much legitimate analysis…
Despite the due accolades for pulling off the V-Mart trade, Theo Epstein deserves some scrutiny for the Adam LaRouche/Kottell/Brian Anderson exchanges which set it up. just, impartial, unbiased, objective, unprejudiced,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], honest value, Lincecum would like to reiterate, seems to preoccupy the Red Sox brass a LOT more during free agent negotiations than it seems to for in-season trades. He earned his first major league victory in his next start on the road against the Colorado Rockies. Lincecum who is often compared to Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Roy Oswalt faced him in each of his next two starts, Oswalt with the Astros at the time. After the first agree up,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Astros third baseman Mike Lamb said, The stuff he was throwing out there tonight was everything he is hyped up to be. He was 97 mph with movement. You just don't see that every day. He pitched very much like the pitcher he is compared to and out dueled him throughout the night. The pair dueled to a no decision the first time, and Lincecum pitched eight innings and got the win the second time. The Giants asked Lincecum not to throw the bullpen sessions typical of other pitchers during the off season. Manager Bruce Bochy told the San Francisco Chronicle that they were being careful with Lincecum because there have been studies that show that pitchers who throw 200 innings early in their career were more susceptible to injuries.
