Pizza is not an item recommended for a heart-healthy diet but still remains one of North America’s and Europe’s favorite comfort foods. Retail pizzas are loaded with salt and shop-bought pizza crusts also contain high levels of salt. This recipe uses baking soda instead of yeast so requires no and no additional salt. This crust for two people contains around 360mg of sodium and 10mg of cholesterol. The toppings can also be adjusted to suit your dietary requirements.

Empty a 6oz can of tomato paste into a small bowl or small blender. Add half a can of water and the basil. Blend thoroughly. Cut up the bacon rashers into small strips. Heat the oil in a small pan over a moderate heat and then fry the bacon for 2 minutes.Remove the pan from the heat, add the flour and stir for 2 minutes.
