Buy FFXIII, Get into FFXIV Beta |
|
Sign ups for the PC beta of Final Fantasy XIV have begun! Final Fantasy XIV is currently scheduled to release sometime in 2010. For more information on Final Fantasy XIV,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], visit the game''s official website here. Two songs from the Final Fantasy XIV soundtrack were played at the Distant Worlds concert in Chicago by the Chicago Pops Orchestra. A YouTube video by user takjak2 allows those of us who missed the concert to take a listen! The names of the tracks being played are Twilight over Thanalan and Beneath Bloody Borders. Those looking to gain access to the Final Fantasy XIV beta with their purchase of FFXIII are unfortunately in for a bit of disappointment. Previously,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], we reported on the translation of a few scans from Japanese magazine Shounen Jump that indicated there would be a FFXIV tie-in for customers who purchased first run copies of the game, with what was largely speculated to be access to the game''s beta test. We have now discovered that the "Campaign Code" included with Japanese first-run copies of FFXIII will simply be a "secret in game item". Players will be able to redeem the item for their FFXIV accounts once the code is inputted into a special site when the game goes live sometime next year. Sorry, folks. No beta for you! The official Final Fantasy XIV website has been updated with information and images of the Pugilist and Gladiator classes. The Gladiator is described as essentially your typical warrior, master of many bladed weapons and shields, with the flexibility to fit an offensive or defensive role. Gladiators will also apparently be masters of throwing knives,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], which is well, quite cool! The Pugilist class is basically your monk, but is also able to throw a chakram with deadly proficiency. Several of the weapons for both classes have also been revealed in the site update, with a standout being the Lantern Shield for the Gladiator which appears to be a shield that can be affixed with blades. Awesome,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]! According to a report over at FFXIV fansite FFXIVCore,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], fans who purchase FFXIII will receive access to the FFXIV beta test. This information has appeared in a set of scans from Japanese magazine Shonen Jump.Keep in mind that this story is currently classified as a rumor, and it has not been confirmed.
