A Tour Among The Cuban Archipielagos |
|
Colorados Archipelago.
It is located in the first section of the Northern coast, which has a wide platform. It is also known as Guaniguanico or Santa Isabel Archipelago. We find it to the West and goes along the North West coast of Pinar del Rio Province. It is the smallest, the less major and less nationwide of the four Cuban archipelagos with no more than 80 keys. It would be nice to point out that only in the Caribbean are small isles known as keys.
This archipelago does not fashion a crowded team; instead, its keys are distributed in two groups: one to the West, afterward to the san Antonio Cape( the Easternmost peak of Cuba) and known as La Lena Keys, while the rest forms a consecutive key chain next to the shore, where its small mangrove jungles are apparent. The main ones are Buenavista, Rapado, Jutias, Ines de Soto, Levisa and Alacranes. All of them are very small and covered by mangrove.
A small reef barrier goes along maximum of the coast. It is very useful since fishing is practiced here, condensed in the small harbors of LaFe, Los Arroyos and Puerto Esperanza. All waterfronts here are marshy, except those located in the keys,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], of which the best are Jutias and Levisa Keys, 2 places we recommend visiting. In some maps you can ascertain Medano Key, with facilities alike to those of Jutias and Levisa keys. Nowadays, only the two last ones are devoted to tourism.
How to Get to Jutias and Levisa Keys.
You get to these keys in alter ways. Regarding Jutias Key, you can go instantly along automobile, your own or rented in Vinales or somewhere, but you all must pass at Vinales because the additional roads that go parallel to the beach are in a quite wrong fashion and virtually impassable; maps do not show the state of the roads. The distance among Vinales and Jutias Key is no more than 65km. The first 17km are made through valleys, meantime the recess crosses mountains until you get to the coast, in Santa Lucia village.
During the first part of the tumble, while passing alley valleys, one tin look the
“mogotes” ( flat- topped hillocks with rocky slopes) on one side, and pine trees and coffee plantations on the other. If you want, you can visit El Moncada community, 15km away from Vinales, one of the first towns built after the win of the Revolution: very small, with a peerless architectonic style, very aboriginal in Cuba. There is too the Big Saint Thomas Cave, the biggest of Latin USA, which can be visited during the day time, entirely in its normal state. Very amusing tours can be made with specialized guides and the needful equipment. Visiting hours are from 9 am to 5 pm, all the week round.
Arriving in Pons village, you rotate right and begin the ascent to the mountains. All through the trip, views are smart since the road goes along the Pizarras Heights, covered by pine trees, from which you can see impressive views of the rest of the mountains. Once there, you can visit Minas de Matahambre Town, a typical mining town where they secondhand to get bronze, displaying mansions that remind us of the American bungalows typical of those mining communities.
A “pedraplen” (a road over piles and bridges namely work from the coast apt the keys, in this case the upon mentioned key), of approximately 12km takes you by a small partition over the sea. This trip is suggested for a round trip outing since there is no location where to linger overnight; there’s only a small restaurant, specializing aboard fish and sea edible. It has a capacity of 45 clients and it is opened from 9 am to 5 pm.
Waters are lukewarm and clean, of an intense blue and majestic coral bottoms. The beach has about 7km of length. Time goes by hasty because you may have several alternatives to enjoy your day, from excursions by ship to the neighboring small keys, visits to the mangroves and to the coral reef, to snorkeling, kayaks, sea bikes, let single diving lessons,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], snorkeling in the coral reef with a specialized instructor, and fishing (there are different fishing m
