The only float of the Rose Parade that is created solely by students and volunteers is the Cal Poly Rose Float. The final touch to the rose float was given by students, parents, alumni and volunteers of the two campuses during the “Deco Week” on December 2009. Designing the float not only gives the merit of “proud assemblers of the float” but also helps the Rose Float teams to learn real world engineering and manufacturing engineering. The theme “Jungle Cuts” was selected from around sixty themes that were submitted for 2010’s Cal Poly Rose Float. The chosen theme portrays a typical barbershop scenario amidst the jungle. The float was featured creatively as well as humorously [link widoczny dla zalogowanych], with monkeys cropping other animals’ hair, a lion getting a perm, a giraffe getting a beehive and a zebra that styles it out. The animation part included a flying toucan, dangling monkeys, a giraffe climbing a tree and a spectacular working waterfall. (Cal Poly Rose Float Club)
