Increase in Phishing Activity And Eye on Community |
|
One of Aion's largest and longest running fansites was the unfortunate target of a hacking attack earlier this week, resulting in the tragic theft of its e-mail database. While access to a list of e-mail addresses by itself will not allow anyone to compromise a game account, this list may be used for phishing, especially e-mail phishing. They have already seen an increase in phishing activity over the past week that may be a result of this theft. The best way to avoid phishing scams is to avoid clicking links that have been sent via e-mail to you or posted in the forums. When in doubt,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they recommend manually visiting official NCsoft websites and navigating to the suggested areas yourself. The NCsoft and Aion domain URLs are: · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] · [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] Aion have been quiet regarding this topic lately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but that doesn't mean that we have reduced our efforts—to the contrary! As explained in their recent GSU’s Message on Account Security,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], their fight against bots and gold sellers is not going to end tomorrow. They constantly ban accounts for bot use and gold selling/RMT. This month they enacted several massive bans totalling over 23,000 accounts in response to those issues. Aion police the game for bots and gold sellers at differing times, avoiding recurring patterns so that our enemies cannot adapt to our efforts and avoid them. We do not want them to know in advance when we will be using the "ban hammer." Their efforts will continue, and they will update you from time to time on their progress. They will derive great satisfaction when they see discussions about bots and aion gold sellers decreasing on their forums and fansites. Do you want to be the one asking the Question of the Week next time? Drop us an e-mail with your character name, server, and question at [link widoczny dla zalogowanych].
