Upset at not being taken seriously as an actress, she left her Angel-mates behind to concentrate on a film career that went nowhere. She then returned to the small screen in the 1984 made-for-TV movie The Burning Bed. Her role as a victim of domestic violence in that film earned Fawcett her first Emmy nomination.

During this time, she met and fell in love with fellow actor Lee Majors. The two wed in 1973 and she went on to guest on his series, The Bionic Man. She also landed a supporting role in the sci-fi cult classic film Logan’s Run.
