The first time Favre "retired" at the end of the 2007 season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], they stated nearly the exact same reasons. We all kat this moment how that turned out. What's to make us believe this time around will be any different?
Nothing.
Approximately a month after his first retirement speech, rumors began to surface that Favre wanted to return. Those rumors were fueled by the fact that they had not filed his official retirement paperwork with the league.
The same holds true today.
When interviewed later in the day, Vikings head coach Brad Childress said, "I'm not aware of any of those reports." However, they went on to say,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], "It wouldn't surprise me one way or the other." Gee Brad, thanks for nailing things down for us.
What else could we have expected to hear from Childress? He's trying to keep the media circus from affecting his training camp. Therefore, he's obligated to offer the same old company line.
I don't want to sound cynical, but this are getting really old. are they coming back? are they done for nice? How's the ankle? Blah, blah,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], blah.
I think it are entirely possible that Favre saw all the attention Albert Haynesworth, Darrelle Revis,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], and some other players were getting and wanted to "stir the pot" a little to get his name back in the news.
The Minneapolis Star Tribune and Mr. Zulgad are very respectable and reliable, but We get the feeling their being taken for a ride on this one.
Ultimately,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], until they files his official retirement papers with the league office, We will refuse to believe any reports that suggest he's hanging them up, regardless of the respectability of the reporting agency.
Even then, We may not believe it.
I may wait until the Vikings take the field repeatedlyst the Saints on September 9th to see if Favre are still in fact in Mississippi.
